Description

Single/Dual Channel Line Tracking Sensor Module

The TCRT5000 is a popular type of line-tracking sensor module used in robotics and automation projects.

  1. Functionality: The TCRT5000 is specifically designed for line-tracking applications. It detects lines or paths on surfaces and provides feedback to the controlling system, enabling a robot or vehicle to follow the detected line accurately.

  2. Sensing Principle: The TCRT5000 typically consists of an infrared (IR) emitting diode and a phototransistor mounted side by side in a single package. The IR emitter emits infrared light onto the surface, and the phototransistor detects the amount of light reflected back. When the sensor is positioned over a line, the contrast between the line and the surrounding surface causes variations in the reflected light intensity, which the phototransistor detects.

  3. Operating Voltage: The TCRT5000 typically operates within a voltage range of 3.3V to 5V DC. This voltage range is common in microcontroller-based systems, making it compatible with various platforms.

  4. Output Format: The output of the TCRT5000 is generally in digital format. It provides a digital signal indicating whether the sensor is detecting the line or not. This binary output simplifies interfacing with microcontrollers or other digital logic circuits.

  5. Optimal Sensing Distance: The optimal sensing distance of the TCRT5000 is typically around 3mm. This means that it is most effective when positioned at a distance of approximately 3mm above the surface containing the line to be tracked.

  6. Usage: The TCRT5000 line tracking sensor module is widely used in line-following robots, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and similar applications where precise line tracking or path following is required.

Dual and Single Channel TCRT5000 line tracking Sensor Modules

  1. Single-Channel TCRT5000 Line Tracking Sensor Module:

  • Single-channel TCRT5000 modules contain one sensor channel.
  • This means they have a single pair of an infrared (IR) emitter and a phototransistor.
  • Single-channel modules are typically used for basic line-following tasks where the robot or vehicle needs to track a single line or path.
  • Operating Voltage (VDC) :- 3.3 ~ 5
  • Supply Current (A) :- ≥ 20mA
  • Optimal Sensing Distance(mm) :- 3
  • Output Format :- A Analog and Digital Voltage
  1. Dual-Channel TCRT5000 Line Tracking Sensor Module:

  • Dual-channel TCRT5000 modules contain two sensor channels.
  • They have two pairs of IR emitters and phototransistors.
  • Dual-channel modules are used for more advanced line-tracking tasks where the robot may need to track multiple lines or paths simultaneously or differentiate between different types of lines.
  • They can also be used for applications where redundancy or increased accuracy is required.
  • Operating Voltage (VDC) :- 3.3 ~ 5
  • Supply Current (A) :- 0.015
  • Optimal Sensing Distance(mm) :- 3
