1 Channel 5V Relay module is used as a switching device and as it is a single channel this module can control only a single circuit. Relay modules with multiple channels can control multiple circuits. This module consists of 6 input-output pins i.e., Vcc, GND, IN, Common (COM), Normally Closed (NC) and Normally Open (NO). Vcc and GND are the two ends of the coil inside the relay. These pins are used to trigger ON/OFF the relay. Vcc is connected to 5V DC and GND is connected to the ground. At the Input pin, we give a signal from a microcontroller to allow/disallow current to flow through the coil. Common is connected to one end of the device to be controlled. The other end of the load is either connected to the NC or NO. If the load is connected to NC then the device remains connected before trigger and if it is connected to NO then the device remains disconnected before trigger. The trigger voltage of this module is 5 V. Devices operating on 10A, 250V AC and 10A 30V DC can be used as load devices for this module. When the trigger voltage is supplied the coil is turned ON and then the contact between common to NC is changed to common to NO. and when trigger voltage is not supplied to the relay the contact comes back to common to NC from common to NO.
