HCPL-2631 the dual-channel device is an optically connected logic gate that combines GaAsP light-emitting diodes with an integrated high gain photodetector. A photodiode collects photons in the detector, and the current is amplified by a high gain linear amplifier driving a Schottky clamped open-collector output transistor. Temperature, current, and voltage are all adjusted for in each circuit. For the HCPL-2631, the internal shield offers a guaranteed common mode transient immunity standard of 5000 V/s. The dual-channel optocoupler comes in an 8-pin DIP package.
The device is recommended for high-speed logic interfacing, input/output buffering, and for use as line receivers in environments that conventional line receivers cannot tolerate. It can be used for the digital programming of machine-control systems, motors and floating power supplies. The internal shield makes the HCPL-2631 ideal for use in extremely high ground or induced noise environments.
