
This is a high-efficiency LM2596 DC-DC step-down converter with a high-precision potentiometer that can drive a load of up to 3A. Please use a heat sink if the output current is larger than 2.5A (or the output power is greater than 10W). As the LM2596 converter is a switch-mode power supply, it has far better efficiency than traditional three-terminal linear regulators, especially at higher input voltages. Because the LM2596 operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, it is possible to use smaller filter components than with lower frequency switching regulators.
